in growing technology companies and realizing considerable shareholder
value. The managers have a hands-on style when working with their
portfolio companies to maximize opportunities using their combined
experience and global networks.
Neville
Jordan CNZM
Executive Chairman
Neville Jordan is a graduate engineer and holds an honorary Doctorate in Engineering, both from Canterbury University. His early work experience was in civil aviation and IBM.
A rotary scholarship to the USA was then followed by several years in Europe as Vice President for a multinational company.
In 1975 he founded MAS Technology Ltd, a telecommunications microwave company. He grew this from start-up to a significant multinational company and achieved a successful IPO on the NASDAQ main board. Neville then founded Endeavour Capital which invests in companies based on science and technology.
He was awarded the United Kingdom IEE Kirby Medal for "outstanding eminence and distinction in advanced technology" and is a Distinguished Fellow of the Institute of Professional Engineers NZ.
Neville has served on many government Ministerial Advisory committees, plus six years on the board of a Crown company, AgResearch, and three years each on the boards of the Foundation for Research Science & Technology and the Prime Minister's Growth and Innovation Advisory Board. He is a retired Officer of the RNZNVR and honorary Captain in the Royal NZ Navy.
He has been Chair of several review Committees for both the Australian and NZ governments, most recently, the NZ government Taskforce reviewing Crown Research Institutes.
In 1998 he established and chairs the Jordan Foundation which provides scholarships for higher learning, particularly for the disadvantaged, plus support for the performing arts. He has been made a Distinguished Life Member of the Downstage Theatre to recognise his contribution to live theatre.
In 1999 he was invested into the New Zealand Order of Merit. He has received the Governor General's Supreme award for Exporting and is a laureate of both the Business Hall of Fame and the Hi-Tech Hall of Fame. He is the immediate Past President, Royal Society of NZ.
Bill
Thatcher
General Partner
Bill has built a successful career in fund-raising, marketing and
international business development, primarily in positioning and
telecommunications technologies.
He served as a VP with Globalstar when it successfully listed on
the NASDAQ exchange and his outward facing responsibilities included
building the company’s global network of mobile communications
Service Providers.
A skilled relationship builder across business and national cultural
borders, Bill has made a unique and strong contribution to many
emerging companies. As a VP of Pionetics in the cleantech sector
with A and B round VC investors, Bill served as Executive Director
of their Beijing registered subsidiary.
He has assisted several young companies with defensible IP across
three continents seeking ‘A’ round funding to position
themselves appropriately in engaging with major VC investors. These
included:
- Limnia, a solid state hydrogen fuel cell technology company
in America, where he also advised the founder on the selection
of the executive team;
- 7-IP, an Australian satellite communications technology company
providing link optimisation software; and
- Peach, a British company with a novel digital optical code providing
unique identity to product and packaging.
Bill’s experience also includes having worked in a Blackstone
led team developing a restructuring plan for a public company. Separately
for a government backed R+D body he positioned a spin out for a
trade sale, and identified several potential buyers for the company.
His broad experience of the function and value of PE/VC investments
to companies at their appropriate stages of development provides
a unique perspective both to Endeavour as well as to our prospective
pipeline companies.
