Endeavour Capital has forged strong relationships within the New
Zealand technology and investment community. These relationships
provide a flow of quality investment opportunities as well as potential
partnerships for co-investment.

Industrial
Research Limited
EIP has a signed Memorandum of Understanding with Industrial Research,
a CRI that leads the development of New Zealand’s Advanced
Technology sector. Its vision is designed to develop a technological
innovation engine, which creates technology platforms fuelled by
world-class science.
Its scientists, technologists, engineers and entrepreneurs develop
technology that is exploited in New Zealand and overseas, with its
staff covering the following disciplines:
- Biochemistry
- Chemical and biological engineering
- Physics
- Organic and inorganic chemistry
- Mathematics
- Electrical and electronic engineering
- Mechanical engineering science
- Metrology
- Information science and technology
It has a revenue base of $50 million, almost $20 million of which
is sourced from the private sector. Its EBITDA exceeded $8.7 million
in 2001. It is very supportive of EIP and keen to begin working
on commercialising opportunities within its portfolio.

University
of Waikato
Endeavour Capital has a signed Memorandum of Understanding
with the University of Waikato, one of New Zealand’s most
innovative Universities. It is attracting rates of commercial and
government research funding well above its more illustrious competing
institutions. The University has made significant advances in developing
new technologies in industries including Chemistry, Information
Technology, Biological Sciences, Telecommunications, Earth Sciences
and Education.
From these areas, and others, there is already a strong base of
technologies and knowledge that requires further investment. In
the past two years a large number of patents have been registered
and many of these are ready for commercial development.
The University has a revenue base of approximately $150 million,
$18 million relates to externally generated research revenue in
2001 (33% from industry).

New Zealand
Venture Investment Fund
The NZVIF, established in 2001, is a programme of equity investment
designed to accelerate the development of the venture capital market
in New Zealand. Through VIF the Government is investing NZ$100 million
in innovative New Zealand businesses.
VIF will invest its NZ$100 million in individual funds called VIF
Seed Funds. VIF has appointed selected professional venture capital
fund managers to operate individual VIF Seed funds. Each VIF Seed
Fund will operate for seven to ten years, investing in a number
of New Zealand enterprises before terminating and distributing profits
among investors.

The
HiGrowth Project
The HiGrowth Project is an industry led, Government backed project
that works as a catalyst, providing focussed and specialised knowledge
to help self-driven New Zealand ICT companies to attain high growth.
Its visionary goal is to achieve 100 ICT Companies turning over
$100 million, representing 10% of GDP.
