Ectus originated as a Research and Development unit in The University

Ectus was successfully exited in October 2005. The company was purchased
by Tandberg www.tandberg.net.

has developed a patented technology which allows for greatlyimproved
speed of drilling rock and other ground formations. The company
is currently proving the technology in NZ, in both horizontal and

Nexus6 Limited

was founded in 2001 to commercialise technology for the Asthma market.
Their flagship product, Smartinhaler®, is an inhaler which is
fitted with a microcomputer that records every puff of medicine
a patient takes, including details such as the date and time it
was taken.
A peak flow meter also fitted with a microcomputer measures the
patient’s lunch function. All the data is then fed into a
software programme that summarises the results. Smartinhaler®
also has an alarm to remind users to take their medication. The
Smartinhaler® has been shown in clinical trials to increase
an asthma user’s compliance.
Novatein
The Novatein technology is a process to produce compostable bioplastic resin using standard plastic
Industry plant and equipment with mechanical properties that are comparable to commodity plastics In contrast, manufacturing other bioplastics encompass highly complex and capital intensive processes. Novateins technology has very low barriers to adoption for manufacturers compared to other bioplastics.

OBodies are naturally occurring small stable proteins that mimic antibodies. OBodies are engineered to take advantage of their unique characteristics which in many cases have advantages over the current monoclonal antibodies on the market. OBodies can be used in applications where antibodies would perform poorly, for instance where size, stability and non-refrigerated storage are important. OBodies can be used in the detection of infectious diseases in rapid diagnostics test kits for example, as a research tool within universities and contract research organisations and in the therapeutic industry.

(a cooperative venture between The University of Auckland and Stanford
University). Proacta is undergoing toxicity and clinical studies
with their lead compounds in solid tumour hypoxia.
The founding scientists, Professors Bill Denny and Bill Wilson
at the Auckland Cancer Society Research Centre, at The University
of Auckland (ACSRC), and Professors Martin Brown and Amato Giacca
at the Division of Radiation and Cancer Biology and the Department
of Radiation Oncology at Stanford University are considered world
leading authorities in the field of tumour hypoxia, a condition
that exists in a majority of solid tumours and makes treatment with
conventional chemo and radiotherapy less likely to succeed.
